Highly Corrosion Resistant Decking Screws Designed For Properties Within 300 Metres Of The Beach
Stainless Steel 316 Decking Screws from Bremick Fasteners are the most highly corrosion resistant on the market.
Saline environments such as beachside decks and boardwalks are highly corrosive and require stainless steel 316 screws. Other common use cases are where water pooling occurs such as around pools. Generally anywhere 300 metres or closer to the sea should be using SS316. The spray and moisture from the water carries salt which will quickly corrode metals with lower protection levels.
Suitable board thickness
A minimum embedment of 25mm into the joist is required, so board thickness of 19-24mm is recommended. Thicker heavier boards would either require a 65mm decking screw or perhaps a Batten Screw (also available in SS316).
These stainless steel decking screws meet Australian Standard AS3566.2, which means they're tested and exceed the corrosion resistant standards.
Available in 500qty trade packs.
Pre-Drilling and Countersinking is recommended
We recommend our customers pre-drill and countersink when fixing hardwood boards, through using a tool such as the #10 SMART-BIT (see the video below). This ensures a smooth effortless installation that will reduce friction which can cause softer metal screws like stainless steel to more easily snap or burr.
Check out this video of the SMART-BIT pre-drilling/countersinking tool in action.
