Highly Corrosion Resistant, High Performance Decking Screws - No Pre-Drilling Required and Suitable for Marine Environment
Vortex Stainless Steel 316 Decking Screws from Bremick Fasteners are self drilling and require no pre-drilling and are the most highly corrosion resistant on the market. Available in both 50mm and 65mm.
No Pre-Drilling Required
Driving type 17 stainless steel decking screws into hardwood timber is difficult if you haven't pre-drilled the holes first. The Vortex decking screw proprietary designed point will drive straight through hardwood, no pre-drilling required. Over a few hundred or thousands of screws, this can quickly reduce installation time.
Marine Grade Stainless Steel 316
We've most commonly supplied these screws to customers with saline environments such as beachside decks and boardwalks which are highly corrosive. Other common use cases are where water pooling occurs such as around pools. Generally anywhere 300 metres or closer to the coast should be using SS316. The spray and moisture from the water carries salt which will quickly corrode metals with lower protection levels.
Suitable board thickness
A minimum embedment of 25mm into the joist is required.
The 50mm screws are recommended for 19-24mm board thickness.
The 65mm screws are recommended for 19-30mm board thickness. Depending on how heavy the timber is, a 75mm batten screw may be a better option as the expansion and contraction of natural timber will exert heavy forces and stresses on the screw.
These stainless steel decking screws meet Australian Standard AS3566.2, which means they're tested and exceed the corrosion resistant standards.
