For heavy, wide or thicker boards, Batten Screws are often used in place of decking screws. They're stronger and usually higher gauge (12G or 14G) and are more able to withstand environmental conditions can bend or cup natural timber.
Made from solid stainless steel 304 which is generally suitable for areas more than 300 metres from the ocean. Saline environments are highly corrosive and stainless steel 316 screws should be seriously considered for marine and beachfront applications.
