The Standard Modern range is an alternative take on conventional square stainless wire balustrading posts — each post features a stem with an interchangeable saddle top, giving a clean, contemporary finish that suits modern residential decks, alfresco areas, and staircases.

Cost-effective and pre-made, this range suits most residential wire balustrade projects straight out of the box. All posts are 316 marine-grade stainless steel in a satin finish, pre-drilled and ready to install.

How to Order Online:

What's the difference between 1.5mm and 3.0mm wall thickness?

Wall thickness determines the rigidity of the post. 3.0mm posts are stronger and better suited to longer spans, corner positions, and end posts under higher wire tension. 1.5mm posts are lighter and more cost-effective, suited to intermediate positions and shorter runs. When in doubt, choose 3.0mm.

What's the difference between RHT, LHT, and no holes?

RHT (right-hand thread) and LHT (left-hand thread) refer to the thread direction of the pre-drilled wire fitting holes. All threaded posts in this range have an M6 tapped thread.

The Wire Balustrade Kits you use must suit both posts they connect to (i.e. you must make everything compatible!)

If you are using Kit #60 you must connect a LHT post to a RHT post.

If you are using Kit #7, Kit #97, or Kit #70 you must connect a RHT post to a RHT post.

Never connect a LHT post to a LHT post - there is no combination of fittings available for this.

It is best for you to draw a floor plan and work through it section by section to ensure compatability.

Posts with no holes suit installations using metal-post systems where you'll drill your own holes on site. Read our wire balustrade posts buying guide for more detail.

Which post do I need — end, corner, or intermediate?

For Horizontal Sections:

  • End posts sit at the termination points of a run.
  • Corner posts are used where the balustrade changes direction at 90°.
  • Intermediate posts support the wire along a straight run between end or corner posts.

You can view our post guide here for more information. We also cover more complicated scenarios in the guide. If you have stairs or non-standard requirements there is a good chance we can produce the post required. If so, please send through your project here.

Do stair posts come in this range?

Stair posts in this range are made to order — there are no off-the-shelf angled posts. Request a quote with your stair angle and we'll configure the right posts for your project.

Need a more customised solution?

The Standard Modern range covers most residential projects. For non-standard requirements, see the Premium Custom Stainless range — or get in touch.

Where do Standard Modern posts fit in a full wire balustrade project?

Standard Modern posts are your starting point for the post-and-wire system. Once you've selected your posts, head to the individual product page to find matching wire, kits, handrail, and installation tools for the same range. If you're still in the early planning stages and haven't decided on a direction yet, the wire balustrade overview covers wire balustrading from start to finish.
