A discreet, minimalist wire balustrade system for metal posts. A simple and effective solution for fixing wire balustrade to rectangular hollow (RHS) posts.
The flip toggle combined with the swage terminal terminates the wire end with absolutely no visible fittings once installed. All you will see is wire exiting through the hole in the post! The opposing end is tensioned by method of inserting the the swage stud terminal into the hex socket tensioner.
The flip toggle latches into the inside wall of the metal post, to prevent the wire from pulling out under tension.
The hex socket tensioner is installed on opposite end post on the outer side. Please note: if you don't have access to the outer side of the opposite end then you can't use this system.
The system is tensioned by tightening (winding) the hex socket tensioner with an allen key, whilst gripping the swage stud terminal with a spanner or an adjustable wrench/shifters to prevent the wire from twisting.
This system can be converted for stairs, by adding an 8mm bevelled washer (also called a pivot washer).
For square metal posts, consider using the longer 75mm swage stud terminal. This will allow you to adjust to the post angle and thread into the hex socket tensioner.
This system will require you to drill holes on either side of the end post, offset on the angle (rake) of the stairs/ramp. This will allow you to insert the hex socket tensioner on the outside of the post, and insert the swage stud terminal through the inside of the post.
