Are stair posts available in aluminium?

Yes*. Angled stair posts (end and intermediate) are listed on this page and available on request. Request a quote with your run angle and length to confirm pricing and lead time.

Limited to certain stair angles:

As a unique feature of the top plate design of the aluminium posts they are limited for use with 33-38°. The top plate can be modified on request for 27-33°. Degrees outside this require the client to manufacture their own top plate - however the posts can be drilled and cut to suit these different angles with in-house manufacturing.

These posts are not suitable for ramps, stringers or side-mounting as the base plate is pre-welded and cannot be modified.

Manufacturing of the stair posts is slightly different from the stainless posts.

What we require for stairs:

Going and Rise of the stairs
Number of stairs
Any differences between the stairs

The design team will draw a diagram based on your provided information for your approval before commencing production.

How Do I Order Online?

If you have Stairs -> Request a quote

If you have Horizontal Sections:

Design your floorplan.
1. Place Corner posts on your Corners
2. Place End posts at the Ends of you sections.
3. Place Intermediates no more than 1.5m apart. These go between your Ends and Corners. You normally don't fix wire into these.
4. Middle Posts are for straight sections longer than 10m. You split up the section using these.
Pick your preferred wire balustrading Kit. (See FAQ here).
Label your posts LHT or RHT on the floorplan accordingly. There should be no LHT-LHT sections.
Add each of the posts to cart. Make sure to add the LHT or RHT posts correctly.
Add each of the kits to the cart. A single kit has the fittings for 1 single wire.
Add the meterage of wire you need to the cart.
Add any tools to the cart. - These are found on the Kit product page you chose.
Add Fastener packs. 1 Pack per post.

What handrail type do these posts suit?

All posts in this range suit flat timber with a base width of 65mm or aluminium handrail.

We aren't recommending alternative metal handrails due to the risk of dissimilar metal corrosion.

There are a lot of considerations when choosing posts including specifications for compliance, customisabillity, cost and compatability.

What wire balustrade fittings (kits) do they suit?

Hydraulic Swaged Kits.

The Aluminium Posts can come with Pre-Installed M6 RHT or LHT RivNuts in either Black or Stainless (these are installed after powdercoating), or without thread but with a 9mm hole.

Design your floor plan layout first to determine what configuration of posts and kits you need.

There are 3 Types of Kits that change the Threading in the the posts you need.

RHT-to-LHT Systems. - Very popular, streamlined and affordable. You must connect the LHT end of the Kit to a LHT post and the RHT end of the kit to a RHT post.
RHT-to-RHT Bottlescrew Systems - Improved tensioning capabilites for longer runs. Connects to RHT posts on either end.
Flip Lock Kits - Flip locks don't require any threading (no RivNuts). Connects to posts with No RivNuts both Ends.

Stainless Kits to use with RivNuts (coastal):

Kit #60 (not suitable for stairs) - Requires connection to a LHT post on one end and a RHT post on the other (LHT/RHT)

Kit #60s (suitable for Stairs) - LHT/RHT

Kit #7 (suitable for Stairs) - RHT/RHT

Kit #97 (suitable for Stairs) - RHT/RHT
